Experiencing Nature in an Urban Environment

Invitational themed commission

St. Paul, MN, 2009

A small group of artists were invited to respond to the ways that we experience nature in an urban environment. As a recent transplant to the Southern U.S., I found a fascination with the vines and Kudzu that found their way into my own home through any unwatched crack or crevice. I recreated this overgrowth and reclaiming of territory back in my birthplace, Minnesota, where vegetation is kept in check by the harshness of the winters and instead my family utilizes greenhouses to keep their plants living through the long winter.
